Surfing In Israel
Surfing arrived in Israel in 1957, when American surfer/consultant Dorian Paskowitz, serving as a volunteer in the Israeli armed forces, brought his surfing board from Hawaii to Tel Aviv. He invited local lifeguard captain Shamai “Topsi” Kancepolsky to help hire surfers. At that time they were residing in youth hostels, because they were close to the beach and water.
