5mm Wetsuit
Do you wish you could perform well regardless of the temperature of the water? If you're tired
of having to quit early due to being too cold, a 5mm wetsuit is the answer to your problems. Here are a few things
to keep in mind when buying a new wetsuit.
A 5mm wetsuit works in a peculiar way. For one, unlike a drysuit, it allows a thin layer of
water to permeate the suit. This layer is warmed by your body heat, which helps enormously in keeping you mobile
and protected. 5mm wetsuit models are typically those designed for cooler waters, such as the type found when
surfing or scuba diving. Their extra padding helps keep your core temperature what it should be. However, if you
plan on pursuing water sports in a swimming pool or in warmer waters, it's a good idea to try something a bit
thinner, as thicker wetsuits tend to feel a bit bulky.
There are many different types of 5mm wetsuit models to choose from. Some prefer one piece
designs while others go for two piece suits that fit like a shirt and pants. Others still prefer wearing wetsuits
designed to protect the torso only, leaving the arms and legs uncovered. All of these have their advantages and
disadvantages--it all depends on your situation.
When buying your 5mm wetsuit, it's important that you try it on first. This
will ensure that the suit actually fits. There is nothing worse, after all, than discovering the suit you spent all
that money on is actually impeding your progress. Wear one that's too tight and you'll find the suit chafes and is
difficult to move in. You may even have trouble breathing. Wear a 5mm wetsuit that's too loose, however, and you'll
find it takes on more water than it should, which slows you down and does little to keep you warm.
Fortunately, discerning whether a wetsuit fits is easy. Simply put it on and move around in it.
There should be no loose pouches, particularly in the ankles, armpits, groin, and neck areas. Zipping it up
shouldn't be a struggle. While it shouldn't be skin tight, it shouldn't hang off you either.
By doing your best to ensure the suit fits, you are saving yourself a lot of time and money in
the long run. More importantly, you're also making sure that your game is the best it could be. Whether you're
surfing, swimming, or scuba diving, you should be able to do the aquatic sports you love without having to worry
about the quality of your wetsuit.
