Soccer Goals

Summary: Fluke, accidental, divine intervention, or just plain old amazing skill - these elements create great goals

For a sport this great, it is amazing to watch how great goals are created. Fluke, accidental, divine intervention, or just plain old amazing skill - these elements create a great goal. Goals so great that these moments are often what are left after the artist had faded away. These superb moments caught on video will always be remembered in the years to come.

The Hand of God
Probably the most notorious among the soccer goals was when the divine intervened on behalf of the player, as what Diego Maradona of Argentina claimed. Maradona is one of the greatest talents soccer has ever seen and the wiliest. That’s why when he found that he was too short for the header; he punched the ball and later claimed it was the "Hand of God" describing it as "a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God," implying that God was eventually responsible for the goal because the referee had missed the handball offense.

Though the Hand of God was a subject of much controversy, his second was one of the best soccer goals of all time.

O Rei
Regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, Pelé was considered the complete midfield and attacking player. Prolific and clinical finisher, exceptional at dribbling and passing, a famed pace and an exceptional shot and heading ability, he scored 1,281 goals during his career. How did he manage it? Check this compilation of ‘O Rei’ soccer goals.

O Fenômeno
Ronaldo may have the right to claim the title of the best footballers playing today, although Zinedine Zidane may also deserve the title. His awesome skills are also unparalleled, perhaps may even be better than Maradona’s or Pelé’s. But since these players live in a different football era, it is impossible to gauge them side by side. And as Maradona puts it, soccer evolves with time and place. When Pelé played his soccer, it wasn’t the same when Maradona played his, or Ronaldo’s. Whatever may it be, Ronaldo also delivered some of the best soccer goals in history.
