Vermont Skiing
Vermont Skiing: The Preferred Vacation Spot For Many Skiers
Vermont skiing is considered the vacation to book when thinking about visiting Vermont, and it
has long been an essential part of the state's tourism. A number of people think that Vermont is the birthplace of
skiing in the United States. Unrivaled in the best of getaways, Vermont skiing is only a part of this state's
charm. In addition to great skiing there is the charm and beauty of Vermont's villages.
Vermont skiing is best enjoyed in wintertime even though many of the ski resorts stay open
year-round. A lot of the resorts have impressive downhill trails and snow coverage for both cross-country and
Alpine skiing. Advance skiers will be very happy to take on the challenging trails; however, there are as well
regions designed to challenge the novice to intermediate class. As a result, Vermont skiing is popular for all
family members.
Getting accommodations for a Vermont skiing holiday is relatively easy. There are a number of
really great places to stay in Vermont whether you are looking for a lodge, ski resort or something in between. You
will be able to enjoy Vermont skiing in any of the Northern, Central and Southern resorts. Resorts are conveniently
located 4 to 6 hours from New York and only 2 to 4 hours from Boston.
Accommodations range from bed and breakfasts, inns, condos to lodges, hotels and motels. The
choice depends on what a would-be skier is looking, but Vermont clearly has no shortage of places to stay. The room
rates vary from as little as $48 US for a condominium room upwards of US$2000 for an upscale hotel or mountain
lodge. Room rates generally average around $100 to $200US, but the choice of accommodations is up to the
visitor.
There are also a number of really nice Vermont skiing packages at many of the ski resorts in the
area. Packages save money and time, but they also offer stress-free holidays when they come all-inclusive where
lift tickets and meals are included in the package price. If you can find a package that includes skiing lessons
with packages for younger children, it becomes the perfect family vacation.
Vermont is very easy to get to whether by plane, train or automobile. There are also a good
number of international flights to New England as well as very good connecting flights from New York, Boston,
Philadelphia and other cities in the region.
By automobile, Vermont skiing resorts are easily accessible via I89, I91 and VT Route 100. If
you are coming by train, board Amtrak which has daily trips from all major eastern cities including New York,
Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
