Lake Tahoe Skiing: A Great Place to Ski

Being a skiing enthusiast you have probably travel traveled the world to try some of the most popular destinations like Aspen, the Alps and Europe. However you may have missed one right in your own backyard.

Most people head to Utah but the slopes there can get old, fast. I'm sure that you have visited West Virginia's Snowshoe mountain but there is a place that is far more invigoration. For those of you that want to experience state-side skiing at its best there is only one place to go.

This place has six different locations surrounding a pristine lake. In fact Lake Tahoe skiing is a destination that you need to add on your "must see" list.

Lake Tahoe skiing even offers the most experienced skier something new. How about skiing down the side of a volcano? That is correct, a volcano. Lake Tahoe's six different skiing locations are formed from a prehistoric volcano crater. This gives you some of the most exciting skiing terrain available.

Getting There

Unlike some skiing areas, Lake Tahoe skiing is easy to get to. From southern Tahoe City you can get to any of the six locations within 90 minutes of driving time. The area around the lake gives you a wide variety of different terrains that make this destination suitable for any skier whether you are a novice or a seasoned pro.

You can start your Lake Tahoe skiing adventure in Heavenly. Here you can ski the California and the Nevada boundary. Before making your way towards the main lake area stop and taken a run on the infamous slopes of Squaw Valley.

One of the best things about Lake Tahoe skiing is that you can customize how you want enjoy the six different destinations. You will never get bored here because your choices are unlimited.

Where to Stay

There is no shortage of places to stay while enjoying Lake Tahoe Skiing. There are log homes between the slopes and with a spectacular view of the lake. Not only can you enjoy the skiing here but the night life in Lake Tahoe is thriving. So after a day of hitting the slopes you can unwind with a short jaunt across the state line to try your luck in the casinos or perhaps enjoy a relaxing dinner overlooking the lake.

The Resorts

There are two resorts to stay at on your Lake Tahoe skiing trip. They are Heavenly and Squaw Valley. These resorts encompass the feeling of a small town yet have all the comforts you need to enjoy yourself. You will love the uniqueness the resorts have to offer.

Either of the resorts is within a close proximity of the slopes. Heavenly is the better of the two resorts if you have children. They have more children-friendly facilities then the Squaw Valley resort has to offer.
