The Importance of Joining a Mountain Biking Association

Mountain biking is a passion for which you receive accomplishment.  However it is important to remember that not all riders and bikers share the same passion.  For this reason it is essential that you locate other people who have exactly the same passion for mountain biking as you do.  This can be done by joining a mountain biking association.

There are numerous mountain biking associations in existence worldwide.  However, the International Mountain Bicycling Association is the one which is best known.  1988 was the year in which this association was founded.  Extensive threats of closures of terrain and trails had been received in the state of California.  For this reason, five Golden State California mountain bikers clubs came together and created the International Mountain Bicycling Association after receiving such threats. 

These five Golden State California mountain bikers’ clubs included:

• Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association
• Bicycles Trails Council East Bay
• Bicycle Trails Council Marin
• Sacramento Rough Rider
• Responsible Organized Mountain Peddlers

The International Mountain Bicycling Association has grown over the years and maintained its name with practical campaigns in assisting in the preservation of terrains and trails for mountain bikers.  In addition to this, they are the very first organization that has promoted support in keeping trails open in almost every worldwide mountain biking location. 

This association has expanded over the years by adding a consulting center for trail solutions, as well as offering professional consulting programs on trail services ranging from trail planning and trail designing.  Because of their great support to further promote off-road cycling, the International Mountain Bicycling Association works are in partnership with the US federal government and the Congress of the US, with three other agencies, which are the US Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

Minor and local mountain biking associations are also greatly assisted by the International Mountain Bicycling Association, as they offer assistance with financial support, sponsorships, and maintenance of trails.

Some of the best trails around the world are sponsored by the New England Mountain bike association.  A majority of the associations’ members reside in New England.  For this reason, the International Mountain Bicycling Association has assisted the group in its assignment of correctly preserving the outdoors, as well as coaching and educating the mountain biking community as to the great importance of responsible biking.

It is always essential that, when wishing to join a mountain biking association, that you join one that is local and most certainly recognized.  You will have the surety that the world of mountain biking will not be difficult when joining an association which has recognition.  And you never know you may just end up brushing shoulders with the world’s greatest mountain bikers at some point in your mountain biking life.
