Whitetail Hunting

Are you interested in whitetail hunting? Due to the overall abundance of this species of deer and the atmospheric conditions that occur during the pristine fall hunting season, hunting white tailed deer continues to be one of the most enduring types of hunting. Whether you're hunting as pest control, for their meat, antlers, and pelts, or just for fun, it's widely agreed that whitetail hunting is a truly rewarding sport.

There are two main weapons one uses in whitetail hunting. Some hunters prefer rifles while others prefer to use bows or crossbows. There are advantages and disadvantages to both of these methods. Many hunters, for example, prefer the modern conveniences of rifle hunting. This allows them to distance themselves from the deer and create a more accurate shot, thus increasing their chances of an instant kill. Furthermore, when hearing a gunshot, it's almost impossible to determine the direction of the sound, which makes the deer uncertain where to bolt.

Other hunters prefer bow hunting on their excursions. Not only are bows quieter and lighter, but the arrows make it much easier to identify a kill, particularly if the feathered area is a bright color not found in nature. Some believe bow hunting adds a new dimension to whitetail hunting, as it requires them to position themselves closer to the dear for an accurate shot. That aside, there is something delightfully primal and exciting about hunting with a bow that rifle hunting simply can't provide. You get the feeling that you are relying only on yourself and not the added conveniences of a rifle scope or special bullet.

Regardless of what kind of weapon you choose for your whitetail hunting trips, you will be able to experience the unique satisfaction of bagging a deer. However, as deer hunting season tends to result in some rather crowded public forests, many hunters consider indulging in a guided hunt when fall arrives. These guided hunts involve arranging to stay and hunt on a designated piece of land. The hunting outfitter also provides experts to accompany you. Some even go so far as to provide cabins, meals, and more, turning your hunting excursion into a vacation.

If you want something a bit more long term, however, consider arranging a whitetail hunting lease. As white tailed deer are abundant and often feed in gardens or corn or wheat fields, many farmers and landowners see them as pests. In arranging to hunt on their private land, you will both be able to benefit from your hunting.
