Dartboard Accessories

Dart games have been around forever. Long ago, before the start of the world war, darts were one of the most popular games in social gatherings especially in pubs. The first darts were called ‘butts’, a term derived form the French word ‘Butte’ which means ‘target’. These were made using the bottoms of wine barrels. Today, however, darts are one of the most popular games at social gatherings. No carnival would be fun without a set of dartboards.

It is true that darts can be played by merely drawing a bull’s eye on a flat circular sheet of board, but without dartboard accessories, the game wouldn’t be as half as fun. Darts are the essential dartboard accessories. That is quite obvious. However, how do we know which type of darts to choose from? Those made of steel or plastic? Those with rubber ends or light feathery ends?

A dart contains four different parts, the barrel, the shaft, the tip and the flight. The body is the actual determinant of whether the player would be successful or not. In other words, it is the barrel and the shaft of the dart that determines the speed at which this piece of dartboard accessory would fly. The type of dart used also differs according to the material of the dartboard. For example, steel tip dartboard accessories are sued on bristle dartboards.

Other types of darts include cheep copper ones. Since these tend to be lighter than steel darts, they are bigger in size. What you must keep in mind when it comes to choosing dartboard accessories is that the smaller the dart is (or the lighter it is) more difficult it would be to aim at the bull’s eye. Light darts tend to stray from the aimed path easily. Nickel or silver darts are great too but these dartboard accessories tend to hand wear easily.

Sharing darts among players is not an acceptable thing. This consumes time and the intensity of the game is lost. This is the very reason as to why each player must have his own share of dartboard accessories.

One other extravagant dartboard accessory is the electronic cabinet. Understandably, electronic dartboard cabinets, record the scores and add them up automatically. Most top pubs tend to use these because no player can cheat with such a machine. Some of these can even be programmed to call out your name when it is your turn. Could dart playing get any cooler?

Nowadays, the dartboards some in various designs too. A traditional board and set of dartboard accessories would have been black and red marked by white lettering, but now, you can choose from a wide variety of colorful designs.
